Christian Tracks

In preparation for the beginning of Lent next week, the Guitar Train is making a Christian music stop.  Quirky T’s exposure to religious music is mainly through weekly Catholic Mass.  My top five favorite songs sung at Mass are

  1. Prayer of St. Francis  http://youtu.be/ZI1Gst7pEqc
  2. On Eagle’s Wings  http://youtu.be/MvpjxfWrjzY
  3. City of God  http://youtu.be/-zRAUH8yBcQ
  4. The King of Glory
  5. Seek Ye First  http://youtu.be/S1Y8Naj3RFk

Recently, I have been aware of contemporary Christian songs that are not played during traditional religious services.

One song that I heard about at a recent religious retreat is “Already There” by Casting Crowns.  http://youtu.be/Qtg9axTtNLg

This song spoke to me because it made me realize that any obstacles or delays on the train ride of my life are temporary.  Jesus is already there at the station, waiting for me.  From Jesus’ point of view, any derailments are already over as in “this too shall pass”.  I just have to keep chugging along the train track and realize I’m where God wants me to be, even if I never find out why this is happening to me.  That is a very comforting thought for me.

Guitar Train passengers, tell Quirky T what are your favorite songs to hear and sing in church.  What modern Christian songs do you listen to outside of church?  Who are your favorite Christian artists?
